The National Informatics Centre (NIC) is the main science & technology organisation of India’s Union Government in informatics services
and information-and communication- technology (ICT) applications. The NIC is a part of the Indian Ministry of Communications and
Information Technology’s Department of Information Technology. It has played a pivotal role in steering e-governance applications in the
governmental departments at national, state and district levels, enabling the improvement in, and a wider transparency of, government
services. Almost all Indian-government websites come under NIC. The NIC offers telecommunications-networking services including Ku
band (TDMA, FTDMA, SCPC satellite broadband VSATs wireless metropolitan-area networks (MANs) and local-area networks (LANs) with gateways
for Internet- and Intranet-resource sharing. It is the network infrastructure and e-governance support to India's central government and
state governments, union-territory administrations, administrative divisions and other government bodies. The NIC assists in implementing
information-technology projects, in collaboration with central and state governments, in the areas of:
• Centrally sponsored schemes and central-sector schemes,
• State-sector- and state-sponsored projects, and
• administrative-division-sponsored projects
The NIC is a part of the Indian Ministry of Communications & Information Technology's Department of Information Technology and is
headquartered in New Delhi. It has offices in all 28 state capitals and 7 union-territory headquarters and all districts.
At New Delhi Headquarters, a large number of Application Divisions exist which provide total Informatics Support to the Ministries
and Departments of the Central Government. To cater to the ICT needs at the grassroots level, the NIC has also opened offices in almost
all district collectorates.
NIC UNIT AT PRATAPGARH: District Pratapgarh has in no way lagged behind the other Districts in making use of computer technology as a
decision support system. The NIC Computer Centre at Pratapgarh was set up in August, 2008, to introduce and promote the informatics
culture and to create the computer awareness among the masses as a whole and government organizations in particular. It provides the
facilities of using NICNET, electronic mail. In close cooperation with the district administration the unit has launched many programmes
for computerization of different sectors and is conducting short-term training courses on the computer related subjects regularly.
The centre has so far carried out the Computerization of Revenue section ( LRC) , Treasury (TCS), Lok Sabha, Vidhan Sabha & Gram Panchayat
Election process, District Court, District transport Office, Public Greviances, Single Windows Systems, Video Conferencing and Various district
offices, Payroll at various offices, District Phone Directory, New Villages directory successfully.
1. Assembly / Parlimentary Election: NIC district centre is providing all types of assistance to District Election Officer during
Assembly/Parliamentary elections. List of all polling stations, staff working in District, Transport plan with various details have been
computerized. Duties of Presiding/Polling officers, Zonal/Sector Magistrates to be assigned to officers/officials during election are
sole responsibility of NIC. Software with randomization technique have been prepared and used for assigning duties.
2. Land Record Computerisation: LRC focus of work has now shifted to mutation, updating, issue of “Khata nakal” to land holders, yearly
rotation jamabandies on daily basis. Entire work is being done at all tehsils HQs. with timely support in respect of software and
hardware troubleshooting.
3. TCS (Treasury): To prepare monthly payment schedule. The role of Treasury is to control the budget of various offices / departments.
The offices are getting payment through Government Bank. The paid vouchers are again sent to treasury for preparing their monthly accounts
say Ist list and Iind List. NIC-Unit and treasury made their effort to prapare reports in standard format. New additions were incorporated
on the structure, forms, SQL, new revised software etc.
4. Sub-Treasury: Technical support and services was given to all 5 sub-treasury of Pratapgarh district. Supplied data from sub-treasury
is merged and consolidated and soft copy prepared for onward transmission to State Govt.
5. Data Depository System (DDS): Monthly payroll data was checked and validated on Linux clients in treasury for this purpose. It is
completely online and not less than 1-2 minutes per DDO were spent to validate the data. In case of any problem the issue was addressed
to the DDO and any software related problem was looked into and sloved then and there.
6. Old Age Pension: Data of all 5 tehsils has been fed and generating the money order. ATO (Pension is giving on-line payment to
pensioners.
7. Paybill Software: To prepare monthly salary bills, payinner, payouter and different reports. More than 65 DDO’s were
using this software and 200 DDO’s are receiving the text data from Computer service provider every month.
8. Public Greviances System : The s/w was redesigned and new programs were developed according to the need of the district
administration.
9. SUGAM, Single Window System: As per the CM announcment SUGAM S/w has been implemented at all 5 Tehsil & District headquarter.
The reports are – Domicile certificate, Caste certificate, Income tax certificate etc.
10. Video-Conferencing: 72 Successful session of Video Conferencing were held between officials of district with other
officials outside the district in addition to those held between high officials, Jaipur of the district. I.e. Collector, SP, Forest,
Panchyati Raj, Social Welfare, ICDS, Relief, Agriculture etc
11. Support Services: As directed of HQ / State Unit the different offices were visited for solving their problems.
12. Commen Service Centre: According to the CSC project initiated by DOIT, Rajasthan Goverment 40 Kiosks has been identified so far and
in which 28 are delevering G2C services.
13. Sugamrpg ( PGS Portal): According to the CM announcement all necessary steps has been taken to implement sugamrpg, Portal to deal with
public grivencences.
14. E-Mitra: Two kisok are providing services in urban area.
15. TRAININGS: Regular training programmes are being conducted at NIC District Centre Pratapgarh for Govt. staff at District.
Trainings are conducted in MS-Windows, MS-Office, Networking, Internet etc.
